Ripping DVDs

…for purely educational use of course.

I wanted to used footage from movies I owned on DVD.

The best free DVD ripper I’ve found is DVDfab. Once you have DVDfab installed, click the icon to open the program and pop in your DVD. Choose the DVD to DVD option on the first DVDfab screen – that’s the free option. Hit “Start DVDfab.”

A pop-up will ask you region the DVD is from. Next, DVDfab will read the disk.

On the right panel, make sure the full disc option is chosen. The “source” should automatically be set to the DVD in your disk drive. Set “target” to where you want the file to be saved. Type what you want to name your file as in “volume label.” The drop box at the bottom of the screen allows you to change the quality of the rip. I always put it on DVD 9.

Press start and you’re good to go! DVDfab is pretty fast for a DVD ripper.
