Ada Lovelace, known as one of the first computer programmers, is important for many reasons. Her mathematical practices brought her great fame and she was able to foresee how a machine could calculate numbers. Similarly, her clairvoyance allowed her to recognize the great potential of such an invention. Despite suffering from various medical problems, she was able to excel academically in mathematics and even in music. Living at a time when women were not respected, she is important not only in the history of computer sciences, but as a feminist figure as well who pursued her scientific and mathematic interests.
