Scanning Images on Campus

I needed to scan a few images for my final project. If you don’t own a scanner, you can go to any of the campus computer labs and borrow one. Ask for a scanner at the desk, give them your student ID as collateral, and plug the scanner into one of the computers’ USB ports.

I find that the best program to use for Pitt’s scanners is Adobe Acrobat. After Adobe loads, click File>Create New PDF> From Scanner. Choose the name of the scanner from the drop-box (the name is right on top of the scanner). Choose if you want to scan the front side or both sides. There’s also an option to create a searchable PDF which is pretty neat. Once you’ve chosen your options, press scan.

If you don’t want to save your scanned file as a PDF, then just go to File>Save As. There are a lot of image options such as PNG, JPG, and TIFF.
