How To Upload A Website Via FileZilla On A Mac

Since I didn’t have a chance to buy the Adobe package this past week, I needed to download an FTP client that allowed me to upload a website from my personal computer.  I decided to use FileZilla on my mac.

After getting to the opening screen of FileZilla, you then click on the “File” tab in the upper left hand corner of the screen and choose from the first option in the scroll down menu labeled “Site Manager.” A box will come up that looks like the image below.

Next, click on the option, “New Site,” and type in what you wish you call it (i.e. CompDigMed).  In the “Host: ” box, in the upper right, you can then type in the path needed to access your directory.  Finally, you can type in your username and password to access your space if it has one, and then click “Connect.”

Once you do that, your FileZilla page should change from this:

to this:

After you click on the folder in which you want to save your files, the final step of uploading a website with FileZilla is to click and drag your website files ( ex.  index.html) into the site drop box until the file is slightly transparent (as shown in the picture below) and release.

After that, the box in the upper left of the screen should read:

“Status: Directory listing successful”

And there you have it- how to upload a website to a directory via FileZilla.
