What is Interaction Design

In Inventing the Medium, Murray defines interaction design as the practice of designing interactive products and environments, with a focus on the interaction between the human being and the automated system. It is a broader term than interface design, since it includes not only the technical and visual components, but also the social and cultural elements. It can be applied to any system of behaviors that involves coordinated design decisions, especially but not only those that make use of the affordances of the digital medium.
