You’ve Got the Whole World in your Hands

There are so many incredible features to work with in Adobe Photoshop. I am going to show you how to apply an amazing light effect to your photos.

First of all, open Photoshop and you must obviously choose a photo of your liking to work with. I saved and inserted this nice image of cupped hands into Photoshop.

Once you have your photo, navigate to the Layers tab > New Fill Layer > Gradient.

When the New Layer window opens, you can keep the name as Gradient Fill 1 if you wish, but where it gives you options for Mode, look through the drop down menu and choose Multiply.  Press Ok. The Style should be changed to radial, so that it now looks like a brilliant blurred blob.

Next, follow the same steps and navigate to Layers > New Fill Layer > Pattern. The Name can be kept “Pattern Fill 1” or what have you. Change the Mode to Multiply again.

Next, select the Ellipse Tool (or simply press “U”), select the circle drawing option instead of the preset rectangular tool, and create a circular shape in your desired location.

After that apply a Gaussian Blur (Filter>Blur>Gaussian Blur) with radius of 30px.

Next, we will add an outer glow. Go to Layer > Layer Style > Outer Glow. When the Layer Style window pops up, first change the blend mode to Color Dodge. Then change the opacity to 99%.  Press OK.  Save your work. Here’s the final result:

Cool right? Looks like the whole world is gleaming in the palm of your hands! Hope you enjoyed learning some awesome light effects! Good luck!
