From Clip to Clip : Transitions in Adobe Premiere CS6

One thing that you should know about video editing is how to transition from clip to clip. Having hard cuts between clips is the classic way to go between to clips.

It looks like this:

However, there are so many was to blend clips together in a smoother way than a cut.

First let’s learn about the cross dissolve.

Step 1 : Go to the Effects Panel

Cross Dissolve Notes:

With cross dissolve you can blend nicely between two clips and it won’t be a hard cut.

If you zoom by clicking on sequence 1 box and pressing the “+” button you can view your clips close up.

Being this close gives you a chance to  make your cross dissolve a longer transition.

You do this by dragging the cross dissolve symbol and watch it expand.

Now knowing this you will know how to make some smooth transitions. Also, check out the other effects in video transitons.

I think the Dip to black effect is awesome when ending the video and adds a cinematic touch.
