Transitions in Premiere

Because my video is being shot in different segments, it is crucial that I insert transitions so my video moves smoothly.

While Premiere gives you the ability to transition using a simple cut, I found this transition too basic, especially in accordance with our “strange” theme.  So I used a slightly more creative tradition, fade in from black.  I felt that this fade in captured the lapse in time between each of my video clips.

The following steps show you how to achieve a transition…

‘Window’ > ‘Effects’

Go down to the “Video Transitions” folder > “Dissolve” > ‘Dip to Black’

Click and drag effect to your timeline where you want the transition.

Watch your video come to life.
