Work with WAT you GOT! (HOW TO SAVE SPACE ON YOUR SITE)
Many people in class have brought up problems with optimizing their space to fit all their content, and this DIY will provide them with an easy way to free up much of that space by having other websites host their material, mainly youtube and imgur. I prefer this method to hosting these myself for several reasons including 1) drag and drop features, 2) the embedding codes are provided, 3) the combination of the first two benefits leads to less time being spent typing out file names, and 4) the files are accessible anywhere even if they are not currently hosted on your site.
To use a picture from imgur you use the direct link code provided after uploading the picture with an imgsrc=”directlink.jpg”, or it also provides you with the actual html5 code for putting the pic on your site (this also has a link back to imgur that you can modify with another website link).
To do a youtube embed the code looks like: , but is also easily found by clicking share ->embed on the youtube page (found under the video).
I hope this helps in keeping your website at a manageable size, and I believe this is also a great way to keep track of your files both in and out of use.
