Transition Effects in Premiere Pro

If you’re looking for something different than the default crossfade between shots, there is a very easy way to apply transitions. Begin by opening the effects window by selecting Window > Effects:

This should open the window in the upper left hand corner:

Now select the last option, Video Transitions:

You’ll have a couple different options, but here I’ve selected Cube Spin. Now select and drag the option over to the cut you want to change:

If you click on the effect in the timeline, it should bring up the Effects in the upper middle window:

Here you can change the settings on the the effect. I’ve changed the duration from 1 second to 3 seconds to slow down the spin. You might also want to change the audio transition, and by following the same steps, you can apply and adjust a crossfade.
