Massumi, p. 31: “The idea of the idea of affection”
An idea of the idea of affection is a “conscious reflection.” A “conscious reflection” is when we are actively thinking about an idea. You consciously think about what ever it is that you are thinking about (in this instance, affection). When you first experience an external stimulus, like music or sound, your automatic reaction to it is just your first idea about it. Then you need to take a step back and think about the idea you just had. So effectively, affection is your first reaction to the stimulus, and the idea of the idea of affection is how we think about that affection.
