Massumi, p. 43: “pragmatic understanding of emergence”
The virtual is always changing, it depends on the individual who is constructing the virtual Thus, the construction of the virtual is a matter of indifference as it is always changing. Concepts of the virtual are only important to understand to the extent that it helps us understand where the virtual ends and the actual begins, the “emergence” from the virtual to the actual. Emergence is important because the edge of the virtual is where the affective potential is found.
