Add Timecode to Video

There may come a time when you wish to have the timecode appear on your footage. This effect is perfect for clips of interviews, or for any other time you need to inform the viewer of the running time of the footage.

It’s very simple to add this effect.

Go to your Effects bin, and select the Video Effects dropdown tab.

Scroll down a little until you see the Video tab:

Drag the Timecode effect onto your footage on the timeline.

You can adjust the size and position of the timecode, as well as any other labels in the Effect Controls bin.

Don’t forget to render the effects in your work area to preview the timecode effect!

Now, wherever the needle is in the timeline, the timecode will appear on your footage:

  1. This is so helpful! I like the usage of images to explain everything. Can you specify a segment to add it to? More curious if you can change the positioning and size?

  2. showing us the visual result of your ‘how to’ would be helpful.
on your steps, there aren’t enough gap between the picture and text. I am confused which text belongs to which visual.
it would be helpful if you had some sort of arrow or indicating box on your visuals to direct readers to where you are referring.
